Dear parents,
親愛的家長：
We’ve had two wonderful all-school events during May – the International Day celebration and Sports Day. Both gave us a chance to come together as a community and celebrate our children’s learning and development and bring our families together. The month has brought a real sense of achievement as students are now fully immersed in daily routines and making fast progress.
在五月份，我們舉辦了兩次精彩的全校活動：國際日慶祝活動和運動日。兩者都讓我們有機會作為一個團體一起見證我們孩子的成長和發展，並將我們團聚在一起。這個月帶來了真正的成就感，因為學生們現在完全沉浸在日常生活中並取得了快速進步。
An aspect of development we take very seriously at Mills is the nurturing of values and strong social skills. Saying Good morning, thank you, and please consistently and naturally; showing empathy and support for others; celebrating team members’ successes as well as one’s own – these may seem less important for young children, but a solid foundation in these traits will stand them in good stead throughout their lives.
我們在苗士非常重視發展和培養孩子們的價值觀和強大的社交技能。一如既往地自然地說聲「早安！」、「謝謝！」和「請⋯」；對他人表示同情和支持；慶祝團隊成員和自己的成功——這些對年幼的孩子來說似乎不那麼重要，但這些特質的堅實基礎將使他們終生受益。
Our International Day showed the diversity we have among our families. Our children learn every day that we are all alike but also different, that each one of us is unique but that we have a responsibility for others, their beliefs, and cultures. This understanding and appreciation is a critical aspect of our children’s socio-emotional development and plays a very important role in how they view the world around them.
我們的國際日展示了我們家庭中的多樣性。我們的孩子每天都學習到我們都是很像，但也很多不同，我們每個人都是獨一無二的，但我們對他人、他們的信仰和文化負有責任。這種理解和欣賞是我們孩子社會情感發展的一個重要方面，並且在他們如何看待周圍的世界方面發揮著非常重要的作用。
Our Sports Day was lots of fun! It was great to see parents joining in and enjoying the activities with your children. Even young children can learn to understand aspects of sportsmanship. Events like this encourage team spirit and a healthy sense of competition. All our children will experience success and failure in their lives – and they should embrace the opportunity for both as learning experiences. Celebrating efforts and achievements, enjoying both collaborative and competitive activities, and being good role models are critical to developing growth mindsets and resilience – crucial attributes for our rapidly changing world.
我們的運動會很有趣！很高興看到父母加入並與您的孩子一起享受活動。即使是年幼的孩子也可以學習理解體育精神的意義。像這樣的活動，我們鼓勵團隊精神和健康的競爭意識。所有的孩子都會在他們的生活中經歷成功和失敗——他們應該把兩者當作學習經驗。慶祝努力和成就，享受合作和競爭活動，並成為良好的榜樣對於培養成長心態和適應力至關重要——這也是我們適應快速變化世界的關鍵屬性。
