K3

February kicked off with a week of celebration as Mills and the K3 classed marked the coming of the Chinese New Year! We learnt about the various animals in the zodiac story and discussed the many rich and deep traditions that come with the Lunar New Year. We practised singing and dancing our Chinese New Year songs and performed them during the virtual celebration.

二月份的第一週,我們K3 的小朋友在苗士一起慶祝農曆新年的到來。我們認識了十二生肖的故事中的各種動物,並討論了與農曆新年有關的許多豐富而深刻的傳統習俗。我們練習了唱新年歌和跳舞,並在虛擬的慶祝活動中表演節目。

We then continued with our topic My Material World and we dived deeper into the various qualities and attributes of different materialsWe built on our scientific understanding of materials by looking at the three states of matter; solids, liquids and gases, and how their molecular makeup varies. Finally, we reviewed renewable energy and examined the different ways in which we can obtain renewable energy sources.

接著,我們繼續主題「我的物質世界」的學習。我們深入了解不同材料的各種屬性。通過觀察物質的三種狀態來建立對物質的科學理解:包括固體、液體和氣體,以及它們的分子的構成和變化。最後,我們回顧了可再生能源以及我們獲得可再生能源的不同方式。

In our numeracy lessons, we covered a wide range of topics. We continued our review of number bonds and building our knowledge of and confidence in adding and subtracting larger numbers. We also learnt about the practical applications of numeracy such as measuring, telling the time, and recognising patterns and sequences. The students really enjoy these ‘real world’ applications, and we had a lot of fun exploring them.

在我們的算術課上,我們討論了各種話題。我們繼續重溫了數字鍵,建立起對加減較大數字的認識和信心。我們也學習了計算的實際運用能力,例如:測量、認識時間、排列和序列等。孩子們真的很喜歡「真實世界」的應用程式,我們在探索的過程中獲得了很多樂趣。

We have continued to make fast progress in our phonics and literacy classes and students are now spelling more complex words with less assistance, which is fantastic! This month, we focused particularly on the long e vowel sound and I was very happy with the confidence displayed by each student.

我們在語音和讀寫方面繼續取得可喜的進步。孩子們現在不用老師提示就能拼出更複雜的單詞,這真是太棒了!這個月,我們特別學習了長「e」這個元音的發音。看到孩子們的自信表現,我感到十分開心。

It was wonderful to have the students return on campus this month! We can’t wait to discover many more exciting topics, activities and events as we head into March.

孩子們在這個月能重返校園,真是太好了!我們迫不及待的的渴望三月能進行更多的令人興奮的話題、活動和事情!

MANDARIN

To welcome the Chinese New Year, K3 students learnt the origin and customs of this traditional festival. They enjoyed the stories of The Year Beast and The Chinese Zodiac very much. They were able to name the Chinese zodiac animals in the correct order.

春回大地萬物復蘇的二月,高班的孩子們和老師一起唱起歌跳起舞迎接中國新年的到來。孩子們非常喜歡《年獸的故事》和《十二生肖的故事》,有些孩子甚至能夠準確無誤地説出十二生肖的排序。通過一個星期的學習和交流,孩子們對中國新年的傳統習俗又多了幾分瞭解。

The students had a great time during their PE lesson once they returned to school after the break. They followed the teachers instructions well and conducted their own ‘floating’ experiments.

在與家人們歡度新年假期之後,高班的孩子們歡欣雀躍地回到了學校。在學校裏老師和孩子們一起進行了體能活動,大家玩得不亦樂乎。體能課之後孩子們在老師的指導下進行了簡易的「浮沉」小實驗,孩子們對動手做實驗充滿興趣,在操作過程中孩子們爭先表達自己觀察到的實驗現象,有些孩子甚至在回家之後再自己動手實驗了一次。 

Through observations and experiments, they understood the concept of density. They also learnt about the characteristics of the different states of matter and the transformations they involve.

通過「浮沉」小實驗孩子們知道了物體的浮沉與密度有關,孩子們還學習了物質的三種常態以及三種常態之間的變化。

Students now understand the importance of using resources properly and wisely so as to protect our environment.

通過「我們的物質世界」這一主題,孩子們知道了要愛惜身邊每一件的物品,從而保護地球的環境。
