Active learning 主動教學 

At Mills International Preschool, we believe that academic learning should be underpinned with play. We offer a diverse range of play activities that stimulate the senses, provide opportunities for creativity, develop fine and gross motor skills, as well as develop critical thinking skills. This child-centered and led approach means our students become confident learners who are engaged in the world around them, whilst their inquisitiveness motivates them to learn. We then help them to make sense of this knowledge and apply it to real-life situations.

We understand the importance both free and structured play have in developing key skill sets. We strive not only to give students an academic education but also to provide all round learning, to prepare them for the next stage in their academic and social lives.

Our teaching and learning strategy provides hands-on experiences and activities that stimulate children’s growth and curiosity whilst working in small groups, and we synthesise the latest research on cross-cultural communication, child development, and teaching into our curriculum.

Bilingual immersion 雙語融合

The UK Early Years Foundation Stage Framework features the prime areas of learning and development: communication and language; physical development; and personal, social, and emotional development, with four specific areas in literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design.

英國幼兒基礎階段架構包含的主要範疇有學習和發展;溝通和語言;體能發展;以及個人,社交,情感發展,並包括讀寫能力,數理能力,了解世界以及表達藝術和設計這四個特定領域。

Mandarin at Mills 苗士的普通話教學

We pair the UK Early Years Foundation Stage Framework with daily intensive Mandarin with our native Mandarin-speaking teachers’ theme-based lessons that are fully-integrated into the wider curriculum. Children take advantage of our graded readers programme, conversation and vocabulary development, storytelling, and an interactive online learning system.

Mindfulness training 靜觀專注訓練

MindUP™ provides a set of social, emotional, and self-regulatory strategies and skills developed for pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students to cultivate wellbeing and emotional balance. It is an exceptionally effective teaching and learning tool. It is a social and emotional learning programme that has helped thousands of children and teachers in hundreds of classrooms and schools throughout the United States, Canada, and the UK.

When children understand how the brain works – the basic mechanics of its structure, its chemical reactions and neural pathways, and how the brain reacts to stimuli – they in turn become capable of using their brains more effectively and creatively, which leads to a more optimistic outlook and greater resiliency.
