K1 | Chinese New Year & Jobs People Do — Mills International Preschool 苗士國際幼稚園

This month, we started off with the theme of Chinese New Year. The children learnt about the different zodiac animals and the interesting story of their origin. We reinforced this with a fun gross motor skills activity where we acted out the different zodiac animals and had our friends guess which of the animals we were pretending to be. The children also created their own dancing lion puppet where they could create their own lion dance routine with the puppet that they created. It was a lot of fun practising our Chinese New Year song together and it was a delight to compile the fantastic singing and dancing videos that were sent over from the parents.

我們以農曆新年為主題開始了本週的學習。孩子們了解了不同的生肖動物及其起源的有趣故事。通過有趣的大肌肉運動技能活動強化了這一點，我們扮演了不同的生肖動物，並讓我們的朋友猜測我們扮演的是哪種動物。孩子們還創造了自己的舞獅木偶，在那裡他們可以用自己創造的木偶創造自己的舞獅動作。一起練習農曆新年歌曲很有趣，而且編輯父母發送來的美妙的歌舞視頻是一件特別愉快的事情。

The children enjoyed the Chinese New Year celebration with various activities like playing a freeze dance, doing kung fu with a panda, and even taking part in our own lion dance! During our celebration, our Class Captain Sam Lam also delivered a heart-warming address to the school and reminded us of the importance of love during this season. Finally, we had a Chinese New Year virtual feast where the children had a wonderful time snacking on their traditional Chinese treats while having the chance to interact with their classmates and teachers.

孩子們通過各種活動享受農曆新年慶祝活動，例如，玩冰舞，與熊貓一起做功夫，甚至參加我們自己的舞獅！在我們的慶祝活動中，班長林森也向學校發表了熱情洋溢的講話，並提醒我們在這個季節裡愛的重要性。最後，我們進行了農曆新年虛擬盛宴，孩子們在享受傳統中餐的同時享受了美好的時光，同時也有機會與同學和老師互動。

After the holidays, we resumed our theme Jobs People Do and looked at these occupations: teachers, cleaners, and pilots. The children were able to take a closer look at what teachers do when they prepare for teaching at school. Our students also had the chance to create their very own ‘teacher laptops’, so they could role play carrying out their own Zoom class at home.

假期結束後，我們繼續學習“不同的職業”的主題，並一起探討了了以下職業：教師，清潔工和飛行員的工作。孩子們回到學校能夠近距離觀察老師的工作。我們的學生也有機會創造自己的“老師筆記本電腦”，這樣他們就可以在家裡玩扮演老師上Zoom課堂的遊戲。

Everyone was very excited to be back at school for one of the days in which we learned about cleaners and what they do. We took this chance to have the children create little heart-warming cards for our school cleaners to show appreciation for their hard work! After exploring the job of a pilot, we did a final review of all the different occupations that we learnt together during the theme. We discussed the jobs that we found the most interesting and what the students want to be when they grow up!

在我們了解清潔工及其工作方式的這一天，大家對回到學校都感到非常興奮。我們藉此機會讓孩子們為我們的學校清潔工製作了一些小小的溫馨卡片，以感謝他們的辛勤工作！在探索了飛行員的工作之後，我們對主題的學習內容進行了評估。我們討論了最有趣的工作，以及孩子們長大後想要成為什麼樣的人！

During the theme Chinese New Year, K1 students learnt the meaning of the new year through listening to the story The Year Beast. They also learnt the zodiac animals and the song Gong Xi Gong Xi. They had so much fun during our virtual Chinese New Year celebration.

農曆新年的鐘聲響起，我們苗士幼稚園的孩子通過《年獸的故事》、十二生肖的遊戲、兒歌和新年慶祝會等活動迎接這個中國傳統節日的到來。孩子們在活動中換上新年的服裝，載歌載舞，在歡聲笑語中度過了美好的佳節。

They have also been learning about Jobs People Do and we have explored the duties of teachers, cleaners, pilots. They were excited to role play occupations.

經過與家人快樂的團聚，新年假期過後，孩子們都開始進入了新的學習里程。終於能夠在校園和老師同伴們相見了。我們一起繼續認識「不同的職業」這個主題單元，分別認識了老師、清潔工以及飛機師的工作，孩子們十分享受故事、遊戲和扮演遊戲帶來的快樂。孩子們扮演老師給小朋友講故事，為清潔阿姨貼心地準備了了漂亮的抹布，還一起學習了飛行員的工作，我們一起跟著老師扮演飛行員和乘客，還一起放紙飛機，體驗飛行帶來的樂趣呢！
