MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL SUPERVISOR 校監的話

Dear parents,

親愛的家長：

It has been a delight to have all of our students back at school for the past few weeks. I am very grateful to our teaching and administrative staff for their immediate willingness to undergo fortnightly Covid testing in order to make sure our school stays open and that our whole community remains safe and healthy.

過去幾週，看到孩子們重返校園，真是令人高興的事情。我非常感謝我們的教職員願意每兩週進行一次新型冠狀病毒測試，以確保學校保持開放並確保整個社區安全健康。

We are all aware of the challenges that our children have had to experience over the past year – developmentally, emotionally, and cognitively. Right now we are focusing on re-establishing routines and creating safe environments for learning and exploration, responding to a lot of pent-up curiosity and huge thirst for knowledge from our students, as well as nurturing the social skills that children have not had the chance to develop during the long periods of social distancing.

孩子們在過去一年中在發展、情緒和認知上都經歷了巨大的挑戰。目前，我們專注於重新建立學習規則，並為孩子學習和探索創造安全的環境，以滿足他們被壓抑的好奇心和對知識的強烈渴望；同時培養他們的社交技能，以彌補之前失去的社交機會。

There is undoubtedly developmental delay across all year groups in terms of our usual learning targets – this is recognised in global research across educational systems and cultures – but we are impressed by our students’ eagerness to learn and socially interact with their friends and teachers. This bodes well for positive and effective catch-up in children’s preparation for the next steps in their learning.

毫無疑問，過去的一年，孩子的正常學習受到了衝擊 – 這是全球性的問題。但是我們對學生渴望學習以及與他們的同伴和老師進行社交互動印象深刻。這說明我們的孩子正在迎頭趕上，為下一步的學習做好了準備。

We always work closely with our Mills families, so please contact me or your child’s teacher if you have any concerns at all about your child’s ongoing development. Where several parents have questions about similar issues, we will ensure that we send out regular communications and updates regarding these topics. We are also looking into organising parents’ seminars, so please share topics with us that you would like to see covered.

我們苗士國際幼稚園一貫與家長緊密合作，因此，如果您對孩子的持續發展有疑慮，請與我或老師聯繫。如果個別家長對孩子的學習情況有疑問，也歡迎提出來，我們將定期解答有關的問題，並更新相關的主題內容。我們也正在考慮組織家長研討會，因此，歡迎各位家長跟我們探討你們感興趣的任何主題。

We had a wonderful celebration of spring and Easter with our families at school, and we hope for more stable times ahead.

我們在學校與家長和孩子慶祝復活節，大家都玩得很愉快，希望往後時間更趨穩定，能舉行更多相似活動。
