K2 | People and the Past + I Can Move

K2

We have been thoroughly impressed with the K2’s knowledge and understanding of prehistory. During our final weeks of exploring People and the Past, K2 students demonstrated continued curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about the lives of Stone Age people. As the students exhibited such good comprehension of the topic, I challenged them with more complex subjects like the transition from the palaeolithic to the Neolithic era and evolution. The students thoroughly enjoyed exploring different textures, materials and dimensions when creating their cave projects.

K2對史前知識的了解給我們留下了深刻的印象。在我們探索《過去的人與事》這個主題中,K2學生表現出了強烈的好奇心和學習石器時代人們生活的熱情。當學生表現出對主題的理解時,我向他們挑戰了更複雜的主題內容,例如從舊石器時代到新石器時代的過渡和演變。在創建洞穴項目時,學生們非常喜歡探索不同的紋理、材料和尺寸。 

We are blessed to have so many different nationalities in our K2 class, and International Day provided us with an opportunity to celebrate and share the cultural diversity amongst us. It was wonderful to see the openness and sensitivity that the students approach each other with. We are proud to see the understanding and respect that the students have for different views, cultures and beliefs.

我們很幸運在K2班級中擁有這麼多不同國籍的孩子,國際日為我們提供了一個機會來慶祝和分享我們之間的文化多樣性。看到學生們的開放度和敏感性,真是太好了。我們很自豪地看到學生對不同觀點、文化和信仰的理解和尊重。 

This K2 class loves to be physically active, and there is no better way to channel that energy than with our new topic, I Can Move. Firstly, this topic provides the students with an opportunity to discover the importance of movement and how to build whole body coordination, agility, strength and control. We can build an understanding of the role of exercise in maintaining good health. Then, we get to explore the exciting world of sports and the Olympics!

這個K2班喜歡運動,沒有比我們的新主題《我可以動》更能激發孩子的能量了。首先,該主題為學生提供了一個機會,讓他們發現運動的重要性以及如何建立全身的協調性、敏捷性、力量和控制力。我們可以了解運動在保持健康方面的作用。然後,我們將探索令人興奮的體育和奧林匹克世界! 

This topic corresponded perfectly with our second big event this month, Sports Day! The K2 students were well-prepared for a day of movement, activities and games. They were able to apply their skills and physical development and enjoy a great day with their family and friends.

這個主題與本月我們的第二個大型活動「運動日」完美結合! K2學生為一天的運動、活動和遊戲做好了充分的準備。他們運用自己的技能和身體發展,與家人和朋友度過美好的一天。

MANDARIN

May is a month for enthusiasm and celebration. We ushered in a special holiday – Mother’s Day. K2 students celebrated this day with a handmade card. They learnt how to read and say the sentence ‘I love you, mom’. Not only are they building their reading skills, but also expressing gratitude for their mums.

五月是一個熱情如火的季節,我們迎來了特別的節日—母親節,孩子們通過製作母親卡學習了句子:「媽媽我愛您!」當孩子們不但認讀了以上的句子,還深情地表達了對母親的愛!

This month, we continue to investigate the theme People and the Past and learnt about hieroglyphics. They have shown lots of curiosity and interest in the origin and evolution of Chinese characters. The children played a game with hieroglyphics; they were very eager to participate and showed excitement when they guessed the Chinese character correctly. This has deepened their understanding of the past as well as the Chinese characters. What a fun way to learn about history!

這個月,我們繼續在《很久以前的人和事》這個主題單元,學習了「象形文字」。孩子們對文字的起源、文字的演化充滿了好奇和興趣,看著一個個優美的中國文字躍然紙上,從甲骨文、金文、小篆、隸書、楷書,孩子們通過觀看這些文字的變化,對文字產生了強烈的求知慾。在小組討論課上,孩子們在老師的引導下,一起玩了猜「象形文字」的遊戲,在遊戲中,孩子們展開了豐富的想像,每次猜中都歡欣鼓舞,看著孩子們學習中文的高漲情緒,老師覺得由衷的欣慰。

Then, we moved on to a new topic, I Can Move. The children discovered different movements they can do like walking, running, swimming, riding a bicycling, playing ball games like badminton and football, dancing etc. They learnt about the importance of teamwork while playing tug-of-war. They attended the annual Sports Day which was a great success, and a lot of fun was had by all. Well done to our K2 students for showing good sportsmanship! They were also being introduced the Olympic Games and understood that it is not winning that matters but taking part. Physical development is an integral part of a child’s growth and we will continue to explore and learn this topic next month.

《很久以前的人和事》結束後,我們開始了《我會動》這個主題單元的學習。孩子們一起討論了:「我們可以怎麼動?」孩子們總會給我許多驚喜:走路、跑步、游泳、騎自行車、打羽毛球、踢足球、跳舞……孩子們能夠結合自己的生活跟同伴分享各種有趣的運動。還一起通過體驗了拔河比賽、打羽毛球等活動感受團隊合作的重要性。我們還舉行了小小運動會,通過運動會孩子們體驗了比賽和運動的樂趣。從而,我們展開了認識奧運動會的學習,孩子們了解了奧運會的項目,通過《騎車》的故事,孩子理解了嘗試的重要性,也懂得了:「運動第一,比賽第二!」的道理。運動對孩子的成長至關重要,下個月我們會繼續《我會動》這個主題的探討和學習,相信孩子們會有更精彩的表現!加油!
