Kung Hei Fat Choi! The K2 class welcomed in the Year of the Ox with a week of exploring the special time that is Chinese New Year. We sang themed songs, learnt about the story of the zodiac animals, and created a dragon puppet. We topped off the week with another fantastic virtual event, in which the students dressed beautifully in their outfits and performed their rehearsed Chinese New Year songs. We welcomed Bao Bao the panda to help us learn kung fu, watched our very own lion dance, and learnt about the importance of being generous to those less fortunate through the Make-a-Wish Foundation. We finished our celebration with a virtual feast, where classmates and teachers met in a party-like Zoom call to enjoy snacks together and talk about their holiday plans!

恭喜發財！ K2班在牛年迎來了特別的一週，即農曆新年。我們唱新年歌，了解十二生肖的故事，並創作了龍的紙偶。我們在本週的另一場精彩的虛擬活動結束了本次活動，學生們穿著漂亮的服裝，表演了他們排練的農曆新年歌曲。我們歡迎熊貓寶寶寶來教我們學習功夫，觀看我們自己的舞獅，並通過“許願基金會”了解了慷慨對待那些不幸的人的重要性。我們以虛擬的盛宴結束了我們的慶祝活動，同學和老師在類似聚會的Zoom通話中見面，一起享受小吃並談論他們的假期計劃！

The K2 Penguins and Toucans have been discovering different places on Earth during our Children Around the World theme. They have had the opportunity to explore different cultures and languages in India, Australia, and South Africa. By delving into the different ways of living across the globe, children learn to respect and appreciate people from all walks of life. I’m proud to say that when our K2 class travel and explore the world, they will be able to greet in many different languages!

在“世界各地的小朋友”這個主題單元中，K2企鵝和巨嘴鳥的孩子一直在地球上發現不同的地方。他們有機會探索印度，澳大利亞和南非的不同文化和語言。通過探討遍及全球的不同生活方式，孩子們學會了尊重和欣賞各行各業的人。我很自豪地說，當我們的K2班旅行並探索世界時，他們將能夠用多種不同的語言打招呼！

The K2 class continue to show impressive progression in numeracy and phonics. They are more confident writing their numbers from 0 – 100 and completing more complex additions and subtractions. We have explored the concepts of ‘most’ and ‘fewest’ and continue to build our knowledge of 3-D shapes. Their writing, spelling, listening and reading skills are all improving in phonics too! The weekly spelling tests are key in assessing and developing their phonetic knowledge.

K2班級在算術和語音上繼續顯示出令人印象深刻的進步。他們更有信心寫下0到100之間的數字，並完成更複雜的加法和減法。我們探索了“最多”和“最少”的概念，並繼續建立3D形狀的知識。他們的寫作，拼寫，聽力和閱讀能力也在語音上都得到了提高！每週的拼寫測試是評估和發展是孩子們語音得到進步的關鍵。

The most exciting thing to happen in the month of February is the resumption of on-campus classes! Despite the period of distance learning, our K2 students have formed such close and special bonds and it truly feels like a family has been reunited. It warms our hearts to see how joyful they are to be back on campus with their classmates and teachers.

2月份最激動人心的事情是校園恢復了面授課程！儘管之前需要進行網上學習，但我們的K2學生已經形成如此緊密而特殊的紐帶，真正感覺像一家人團聚了。看到他們與同學和老師一起回到校園，我感到非常高興。

MANDARIN

Lunar New Year is a traditional Chinese festival. In order to deepen the K2 students’ understanding of the festival, they created and wrote their own lucky couplets and red packets.

一年一度的農曆新年是中國的傳統節日，我們通過故事、遊戲和各種手工活動、認識了中國的新年。孩子們通過製作春聯和紅包進一步了解了中國文化，並感受到中國新年的喜慶氣氛，我們和孩子們一起在新年慶祝會上度過了十分熱鬧開心的時光。

The students then travelled to Australia and South Africa during the current theme, Children Around the World. They learnt about the national flag, food, buildings and animals in Australia; and the Big Five (African lions, leopards, rhinoceros, elephants, and buffalos) of South Africa.

新年假期過後，我們繼續學習世界各地的孩子這一個主題單元，我們來到了澳大利亞，一起認識了澳大利亞的國旗、地圖、食物、以及著名的建築物等，還通過唱《小袋鼠跳跳跳》認識了澳大利亞的動物呢！接著，我們又一起來到了南非，通過故事，認識了在南非最著名的五種動物，包括：大象、犀牛、野牛、獅子和豹子。這五種動物是南非大地上最有力量和強壯的動物，因此被稱為南非「五大獸」（Big Five）。五大獸對於南非意義非凡，是南非國家的象徵和驕傲。
